FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our programs, process, and how we support student-athletes.

Getting Started

Q: How do I get started?

A: The first step is scheduling a Complimentary Success Call where we’ll learn more about your student, discuss goals and challenges, and determine the best level of support.

Q: What is Carpe Diem Academics?

A: Carpe Diem Academics helps high-performing student-athletes succeed in school, sport, and life through academic coaching, ACT preparation, tutoring, and family support.

Q: Do you work with students outside Illinois?

A: Yes. All coaching, tutoring, and ACT prep programs are delivered online, allowing us to support students throughout the United States.

Academic Coaching

Q: What is the difference between Academic Coaching and Tutoring?

A: Student-athletes, high-achieving students, students struggling with executive functioning, and families looking for greater structure and accountability.

Q: What is Academic Coaching?

A: Academic Coaching focuses on organization, accountability, time management, communication, study skills, goal setting, and student success—not just a single subject.

Q: How often do students meet with their coach?

A: Most students meet weekly, with additional communication and support between sessions depending on the program.

Parents

Q: Will Academic Coaching reduce conflict at home?

A: Many families tell us one of the biggest benefits is reduced stress around school, deadlines, and accountability because parents no longer have to manage everything alone.

Q: Do parents participate in the coaching process?

A: Yes. We believe student success is strongest when students, parents, and coaches work together. Parents receive communication, guidance, and support throughout the process.

Q: How do you communicate with parents?

A: Communication varies by program, but we provide regular updates, recommendations, and support to help everyone stay aligned.

Student-Athletes

Q: How do you help busy student-athletes?

A: We help students build systems that work around demanding practice schedules, competitions, travel, and recruiting responsibilities.

Q: Do you only work with athletes?

A: No. While many of our students are athletes, we also work with students who want greater academic success, confidence, and accountability.

Q: Do you help with recruiting and college planning?

A: Yes. We help students think strategically about academic preparation, communication, goal setting, and planning for future opportunities.

ACT Prep

Q: When should my student start ACT prep?

A: Most students benefit from beginning preparation several months before their target test date.

Q: Do you offer individual and group ACT prep?

A: Yes. We offer both personalized support and group-based ACT programs.

Q: Can ACT prep help with scholarships?

A: Higher ACT scores can strengthen college applications and may increase scholarship opportunities depending on the institution.

Tutoring

Q: What subjects do you tutor?

A: We provide support in math, science, ACT preparation, executive functioning, study skills, and many middle school, high school, and college-level subjects.

Q: Can tutoring be combined with Academic Coaching?

A: Absolutely. Many students benefit from both coaching and tutoring support.

Programs & Investment

Q: Which program is right for my student?

A: That depends on your student’s goals, challenges, and level of support needed. During the Success Call, we’ll recommend the best fit.

Q: How much do your programs cost?

A: Programs vary based on the level of support. During the Success Call, we’ll discuss options and recommend the most appropriate program.
